Integrative Osteopathy Medecine
The osteopathic treatment is based on core philosophical tenets. Patient treatment varies depending on individual requirements as determined by evaluation.
Osteopathic treatment is grounded in core philosophical tenets and tailored to each individual through careful evaluation. In my practice, I work to support and enhance the body’s inherent capacity to move toward health and homeostasis, facilitating its natural self-regulatory processes rather than imposing force.
Patient treatment varies depending on individual requirements as determined by evaluation. Dr. Erskine utilizes osteopathic techniques of various modalities: example cranial osteopathy (cranial-sacral work), endocranial spasms work, myofascial release, etc., that share a common intention to clear restrictions and restore fluid continuity, balance, and freedom.
As a residency-trained family practice osteopathic physician, Dr. Yusuf Erskine practices beyond a disease-centered model. By integrating osteopathic manipulative medicine and classical homeopathy, the focus is placed on stimulating the patient’s intrinsic drive toward healing and vitality.
Through palpation of the body’s living anatomy, fluid motion, tissue texture, structural relationships, and movement, areas of restriction or imbalance are identified. Non-invasive osteopathic manual treatment is then applied to restore function in regions affected by trauma, acute conditions, or chronic illness. Each treatment is individualized and guided by thoughtful evaluation and diagnostic assessment.
This work is informed by a foundational osteopathic understanding: the body is a unified system, capable of self-healing, where structure and function are dynamically interrelated. As William G. Sutherland, D.O., described, treatment allows “physiologic function within to manifest its own unerring potency, rather than applying a blind force from without.”
The techniques applied are selected according to each patient’s needs and share a single intention—to restore balance, continuity, and freedom. These may include cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, myofascial release, lymphatic techniques, muscle energy, counterstrain, and somatoemotional release.
